The positivity rate in the city also climbed to 17.73 per cent.
Delhi Live News: Delhi is likely to record 20,000 Covid-19 cases today and the positivity rate is to be around 19 per cent, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said. The capital recorded 48 new Omicron cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 513.
Delhi and its adjoining areas witnessed heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in the early hours of Saturday.
“Thunderstorm with moderate to heavy intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and Delhi NCR (Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Karnal, Panipat, Gannaur, Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Jhajjar, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh (Haryana) Baraut, Bagpat (UP) and Tizara (Rajasthan),” the India Meteorological Department tweeted.

With the latest addition, the cumulative caseload has gone up to 15,06,798 while the death toll rose to 25,136. The number of active cases in the capital now stands at 39,873. Delhi had reported 15,097 cases on Thursday — fuelled mostly by the Omicron variant — as well as six deaths at a positivity rate of 15.34 per cent.
In other news, the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC), an annual count of waterbirds which is under way in parts of Delhi-NCR, has found lower waterbird species diversity at East Delhi’s Sanjay Lake when compared to the count from the past three years.
Noida administration seals offices of two builders
The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration on Friday sealed the offices of two builders following lack of response to recovery letters issued by the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA). Officials arrived at the offices of Supertech in Sector 96 and GSS Buildcon Private Ltd in Sector 1, Greater Noida West to carry out the sealing procedures. Locks with government seals were placed on the doors to prevent the entry of employees.

Delhi reports 48 new Omicron cases, tally at 513
Delhi reported 48 new cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 Saturday, taking the total number of such cases so far to 513 as per the official tally released by the Union Health Ministry. At present, Delhi has the second-highest number of confirmed Omicron cases in the country after Maharashtra which has reported 876 cases of the new variant. The city reported one case of the Omicron variant on Friday and no cases on Thursday, but 82 cases were added on Wednesday.
Heavy rain leads to waterlogging in several areas
Gurgaon witnessed heavy rain and thunderstorms early on Saturday, leading to waterlogging in some areas. Waterlogging was seen in the service lane near Narsinghpur on Delhi-Gurgaon highway, Rajiv chowk, Tau Devi Lal stadium, Galleria market, Basai, Sector 9 and 10 A, and internal sector roads. According to data from district administration, till 8 am on Saturday, Gurgaon tehsil received 54 mm of rainfall, while Wazirabad received 52 mm, Sohna 72 mm, Manesar 50 mm and Pataudi 40 mm.
